A FEW REMINDERS!!!!!!A new menu was sent home in folders this week. Please begin referring to it for lunch orders on Monday, Feb. 13th. All checks for lunch orders need to be made payable to Piggly Wiggly, NOT PLA. Thanks!!

Jump Rope for Heart forms and collections are due Feb. 16th.

Chick-fil-a money ($3.15) is due Feb. 24th.

Valentines and party goodies can be sent on Monday and/or Tuesday morning. Thank you for your help!!!

We continue to work hard preparing for 1st grade!!! I am expecting more and more independence from the children as the year goes on. We are working hard on time management and completing tasks within certain time limits. There are several who need to work at this to be better prepared for next year. Please continue to look over daily papers with your child. Review areas that need improvement. Keep in mind the notes written on papers are for your benefit, not for your child. If you see "Use time wisely!", this is an indication your child is having difficulty completing work within appropriate time limits. Encourage them to perform at their best always!!! If you see handwriting coming home with corrections, have them practice at home. We are adding up to the 3 family (up to 3+5=8). Practice addition with flashcards! Repetition helps memorization! I can't encourage you enough to READ, READ, READ with your child. A few minutes set aside each afternoon will really help prepare your child for 1st grade. Thanks for all you do!

Valentine's Day deliveries will not be allowed at school on Valentine's Day. The children will exchange cards/goodies during our afternoon snack/party time. You can send cards/goodies any time between now and Tuesday morning. Thank you!!!

Dear Parents,

Mr. Mathews, our high school Spanish teacher has some extended family members who lost their home and an infant child in a fire last night in Montgomery. We ask that your thoughts and prayers be with this family during this difficult time. We would like to help by donating clothing items to the family members who lived in the house. There were three other young girls. Paisley, age 2 (3T clothes and 7 shoe in children's), Macy, age 5 (5T in clothing and 9 shoe in children's), Gracie, age 7 (6/7 clothing but not sure on shoe size, maybe 11 or 12). The adults in the household include Wes and Hope Bohannon (father and mother) and Steve and Michelle Bohannon (grandparents). I also have sizes for the adults if your are interested in helping in that way, email me and I will be glad to give you that information. I know these items are needed as soon as possible. If you would like to help, please send items to school and we will get them to Mr. Mathews.

THIS WEEK'S UPDATES!!!!

Some children have already sent in their money($3.15) for lunch on our March 7th field trip. Thanks!! I did have the deadline set for Feb. 29th, but I need to move that up to Feb. 24th. We will need to have all money in by this date so there is plenty of time for us to be issued a check for the final amount. Mrs. Flowers is part time so she will need this turned in to her in order to have our check ready. DEADLINE IS NOW FEB. 24TH. Thank you!!!

Jump Rope for Heart forms and collections are due Feb. 16th. The children will be participating in Jump for Heart during their p.e. time.

We are working on birthdays, phone numbers and addresses at school. Most everyone is doing very well with this. Remember, they are not required to learn the zip code. Only the street address, city, and state are required. If they learn the zip code, then that's even better! :) Please help with this at home as well. Thanks!

I will be out Wed. (Feb.8th). Mrs. Amy Boswell will be my sub. Please encourage your children to be on their best behavior! Thank you!!!

We have made lunch arrangements for our field trip on March 7th. We will eat at Chick-fil-a at Eastchase in Montgomery following the Stephen Fite Concert. The children will have a kid's meal (4 nuggets, fries, drink and ice cream). Cost is $3.15 each. You can send this any time before February 29th. Please send correct change in a labeled ziploc. Thank you!

WEEK OF JAN. 30TH - FEB. 3RD

We began Unit 7 in our Reading/Language Arts this week. The theme is Teamwork, so we will be discussing how to work as a team in and out of school. In math, we continue coin recognition and value, telling time to the hour and half hour and addition through the 2 family (2+0=2 all the way up to 2+8=10) and part of the 3 family (3+0=3 to 3+3=6). I can tell most everyone has been practicing! Keep it up!! Our thematic unit this week is Dental Health, so I'm sure your child will come home telling you they should be brushing and flossing every morning and every night! :)

Monday, February 20th - President's Day Holiday - NO SCHOOL!!!
March 26th-30th - SPRING BREAK!!!!

We will have a Valentine's Day party during our usual afternoon snack time on Tuesday, Feb. 14th, so it isn't necessary for parents to attend. The following signed up to send goodies: Alithia Gunter - sweets (your choice), Kelli Cleveland - sweets (your choice), Sharon Lee - cheesy snack (your choice), Amy Boswell - Party size chips/dip, Cornelia Sanders - caprisuns, Traci Leverett, plates/napkins. We will exchange Valentine's with our classmates. I will send a class list asap. You are welcome to send treat bags for the children if you would like!

Jump Rope for Heart information will be sent home in folders tomorrow. The children will participate in this during their p.e. time. Please read over forms and send back any required signed forms. Your participation is greatly appreciated!
